Join us for an afternoon of insight into beekeeping and practical ways to support our buzzing friends.
Whether you are just casually interested in honeybees and beekeeping, or are thinking of getting into beekeeping, this presentation is for you. Presented by Bob Muller, owner of Sun Mountain Apiary and Honey Store, this fun seminar will give you a short overview of the importance of bees, bee biology, equipment used, where to get bees, costs, and tips for how to start down the road of being a successful beekeeper.
Both honey bees and native bees face great challenges with their food supply. The use of pesticides combined with habitat loss serve to reduce the amount of forage for these important pollinators. What can we do? Join Rosemary Mix, President of Wild Ones Capital Region NY for an explanation of why native plants are important sources of food for pollinators, learn how to begin planning to add native plants to your garden or landscape, and where to access resources to learn more.
There will also be beautiful pottery for sale by three of our talented Gallupville House members!
